DGB collects personal data on its websites only insofar as this is necessary for technical purposes or for the use of the online services provided (e.g. contact form, form "Become a member"). The data you enter will only be processed and used for the purposes for which it is collected. Personal data will only be transmitted to the relevant DGB trade union within the scope of the membership application for a respective DGB trade union. You can select the appropriate union when entering your data. If you do not choose to do so, the relevant trade union will be determined by DGB and the application data will be transmitted to them for further processing. No other transfer of personal data to third parties shall take place.

Your consent to the processing and use of voluntary information for future use by DGB can be revoked at any time. This shall not apply to data collected via the "Become a Member" form and forwarded to the relevant union. In this case, consent must be revoked from the relevant member union (see form 1.4 for details).

1.1 Cookies

The websites of the German Federation of Trade Unions and its projects, insofar as they are implemented on the basis of the union.cms editorial system, create cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer. They are only valid during your current visit to our websites (so-called session cookies) and will be deactivated once the browser is closed (see point 1.6.1 Deactivating website analysis).

1.2 Newsletter

1.2.1 Email newsletter

To subscribe to our newsletters, we use the so-called double-in procedure, I.e. we will not send you newsletters by email until you have expressly confirmed to us that you would like to receive them. We will then send you a notification email and ask you to confirm that you would like to receive our newsletter by clicking on a link contained in this email.

When you sign up for our newsletter, your email address will be processed for the purpose of sending the relevant newsletters to you until you unsubscribe. In accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, we forward your data to the processor artegic AG, which processes your data for the purpose of sending the mailings.

You can use DGB's email subscription system to provide additional information about yourself (name, first name, gender – but this is not mandatory). If you provide us with this information, you agree that this data will be processed for the purpose of personalizing the address in the mailings sent to you.

The legal basis for the processing of your data is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR, provided that you have expressly subscribed to the newsletter.

Should you no longer wish to receive the newsletter from us, you can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future or object to the further receipt of the newsletter. Simply use the unsubscribe link contained in each newsletter or send us a message.

As soon as you cancel a subscription to a mailing of the German Federation of Trade Unions using the corresponding link in the email newsletter or via the online form, by telephone or in writing with the email address, all stored user data will be deleted from the subscription list and the corresponding database of DGB.

1.2.2 "einblick"

If you have subscribed to DGB's trade union print version information service, your data (name, address and, if applicable, trade union membership) will only be used for sending the “einblick”. Only your name, first name and address shall be saved and processed. In accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, we forward your data to the processor Graewis Verlag, which processes your data for the purpose of sending “einblick”.

The “einblick” subscription can be cancelled at any time (by mail einblick@dgb.de, by post or by phone 030/24060-0). As soon as a reader unsubscribes, all stored user data shall be deleted from the subscription list and our database.

1.3 Contact form

DGB has a contact form on some of its websites. In order to answer requests, DGB queries some data (first name, last name, email address) with mandatory fields. All data shall only be used for the purpose of processing the request. The data is retrieved directly from the database of the website via an SSL-secured connection and forwarded to the DGB staff responsible for the request. The form data shall be deleted immediately as soon as the request has been processed.

1.4 "Becoming a Member" form

DGB’s website has a form to apply for membership to one of the member unions of the DGB. In addition to your name and address, personal data (title, name, first name, date of birth, address, email address, telephone number, employer, employer, employer, place of work, professional status, gross monthly income, bank details) have mandatory fields. The information provided in the form authorizes the relevant trade union to electronically process and store this data to the extent necessary for the performance of the tasks associated with membership (membership administration, member information and premium collection). The transfer of data to the relevant trade union is carried out exclusively within the scope of this purpose and takes place using an encrypted procedure. If you wish to withdraw your consent to the processing of your data, please contact the relevant member union. The collected data shall be deleted from the CMS of DGB’s database as soon as it has been transferred to the relevant trade union for processing.

1.5 Other forms

DGB places special online forms on its website for specific purposes (E.g. for registration for events and polls for promotions). Data collected for this purpose is stored as password-protected. They are retrieved through an encrypted connection and used only for the purpose specified in the form. The purpose of use is described in these cases directly in the respective form.

1.6 General usage data

All websites based on DGB’s internet-platform “union.cms” (www.dgb.de, subdomains of dgb.de such as nrw.dgb.de or trier.dgb.de* and gegenblende.de, was-verdient-die-frau.de faire-mobilitaet.de and schoeneberger-forum.de) use the Web analytics service Matomo (https://www.matomo.org). This service collects anonymized information using cookies.

DGB uses this information to evaluate the use of its website and to produce reports on website activity. They serve to ensure the operation of the site and to optimize the websites for users.

Among other things, the following information is collected:

• Browser type/version
• Operating system used
• Device used
• Referrer URL (the previously visited page), the subsequently accessed page
• Time and date of the server request
• Entered search terms
• Accessed pages
• IP address
• Duration of stay on the pages viewed

The stored data are evaluated exclusively for statistical purposes in its aggregated form.

IP addresses are collected anonymously and cannot be assigned to any individual.

The information generated by the cookie regarding the use of this website remains property of DGB and shall not be passed on to third parties.

1.6.1 Disabling Website Analysis

The installation of cookies can be prevented by configuring the settings of your browser software accordingly. However, we would like to point out that in this case, individual functions may be limited in accordance with its terms of use.

1.7 Linking to social networks

The Federation of German Trade Unions (DGB) provides data protection-compliant functions (so-called social plug-ins) for sharing content on several social networks on its pages. Articles and subpages can be shared by clicking on the "Share" button on the respective pages of the providers.

When accessing DGB’s website, no connection is established to the social networks listed below without action on behalf of the visitor. The buttons must be actively clicked on in order to establish a connection to the provider.

Before clicking on the "Share" button, please read the following information. DGB does not collect any data in connection with the use of the social networks referred to in 1.7.1-1.7.8. By clicking on a social network button, you agree that the respective providers of the social networks mentioned under 1.7.1-1.7.8 may process your data in accordance with their own, currently valid data protection declaration.

DGB maintains Facebook, Youtube (Google), Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Xing pages or profiles. The articles and pages of DGB’s websites can be shared via a social plugin on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and WhatsApp:

1.7.1  Facebook (Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Irland)

If you click on the Facebook button and either are already logged in or log into your account at Facebook's request, you can link ("share") the contents of our pages on your Facebook profile. Facebook can use this to assign the visit to our pages to your user account. DGB does not become aware of the content of the transmitted data as well as Facebook’s use of it.

Facebook page
DGB maintains a Facebook page based on an agreement on joint processing of personal data with Facebook in order to communicate with users and to point out its posts. Data from users outside the European Union can also be processed. This can create risks for users. However, Facebook has complied with the terms of the EU-US Privacy Shield regarding EU data protection standards (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000GnywAAC&status=Active).

DGB itself does not collect any personal data of visitors who access DGB’s Facebook page. However, like all Facebook Page operators, Facebook provides DGB with statistical, non-personal data ("Insights") regarding the use of the Facebook Page. DGB currently has no possibility to object to the provision of this data by Facebook or to cancel this function.

Facebook is primarily responsible for the processing of Insights data and the resulting obligations under the GDPR (this applies, among other things, to Art. 12 and 13 GDPR, Art. 15 to 22 GDPR and Art. 32 to 34 GDPR). In addition, Facebook Ireland is obliged to provide its data subjects with the essential information regarding the use of page insights. In the case of requests for information and the assertion of user’s rights, we would like to point out that these can be asserted against DGB as a fan page operator as well as using Facebook. However, only Facebook has access to the data of the users and can take appropriate direct measures and provide effective information. 1.7.8 More DGB profiles on social networks

Departments, districts and regions of DGB also have their own profiles/accounts on the social networks specified under 1.7.1 to 1.7.7. The provisions under 1.7.1 to 1.7.7 apply accordingly to these profiles/accounts.

1.8 EU General Data Protection Regulation

You have the right:

• according to Art. 15 GDPR, to request information about your personal data processed by DGB. In particular, you may request information regarding the purposes of the processing, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned storage term, the existence of a right of rectification, deletion, limitation of processing or opposition, the existence of a right of appeal, the origin of your data if it has not been collected from us, as well as the existence of an automated decision making process including profiling and, if applicable, meaningful information on its details;
• according to Art. 16 GDPR, to demand the immediate correction of incorrect or completion of your personal data stored by us;
• according to Art. 17 GDPR, to demand the deletion of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, for the fulfilment of a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims;
• according to Art. 18 GDPR, to demand the restriction of the processing of your personal data if the correctness of the data is disputed by you, the processing is unlawful, but you refuse its deletion and we no longer need the data, but you need it to assert, exercise or defend legal claims or you have lodged an objection against the processing in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR;
• according to Art. 20 GDPR, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format or to request transmission to another controller.

1.9 Links to other websites

Our online offering (including our e-mail newsletters) may contain links to other websites. These links are usually marked as such. We have no influence on the extent to which the applicable data protection regulations are complied with on the linked websites. We therefore recommend that you also check with other websites regarding respective privacy policies.

1.10 Online petition

This website uses the petition form of openPetition gGmbH, Greifswalder Str. 4, 10405 Berlin. openPetition gGmbH provides the technical platform for the collection of petition signatures. The data you enter in the petition (E.g. name, address, comment) will be stored and processed by openPetition to ensure the petitioning on servers in Germany. During each each page visit of the petition page, browser information (E.g. browser type, operating system, IP address, time and referrer) is stored. The log files are statistically evaluated and help to ensure the correct operation of the pages. The privacy policy of openPetition apply.

1.11 Modification of our Privacy Policy

The status of this data protection declaration is indicated by the date (upper end of the text, under the heading "Privacy Declaration of the German Confederation of Trade Unions"). We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time with future effective. Modifications shall take place in particular in the case of technical adjustments to the online service or changes in data protection regulations.
